Cypripedium
These plants live in the wild in Asia, North America and Europe. In former days it was hardly possible to plant species in a garden, as these plants were extremely demanding, mostly living in mountain areas. A large number of different species were used for hybridizing to find the most suitable plants for our European climate. The plants offered can differ greatly, depending on used species. We offer hybrids with smaller flowers, middle sized flowers and large flowers. Cyprepediums demand a neutral to alkaline soil, as long the soil is permeable. If necessary you can use gravel or river sand to improve. If you want to find a perfect location for these plants, you better look for a partly shaded position, for instance using the shade of a shrub or small tree. Cypripedium is completely hardy, these plant easily survive frost until – 25 Celsius. You can plant from late autumn until late spring.
All Cypripdeiums offered are sown, the plants you buy from us are already five years old. The plants have ben grown in container and repotted several times. Every plant delivered should have at least 3, but most times more as 5 shoots. As most of the plants we offer are seeded hybrids, it is possible that plants differ slightly from each other! If bought before flowering, plants are guaranteed to flower this season.
